August 16, 17 & 18, 2019 global
Calling all creatives

Throughout our history, artists and entertainers
have served as mirrors for society and teachers of the masses.
We start conversations and frame issues that need addressing.
We share our stories with passing strangers and lend our voices to unsung heroes.
We highlight the cracks in our social surface and represent those slipping through them.
We challenge others - and ourselves, to unlearn old habits and think in new ways.
We envision the future. We introduce new ideas and practices for a better world.
On August 16, 17 and 18, 2019, join performers everywhere by speaking up.
As we navigate turbulent times, we need those with a voice to use it.
Individually, we make an impact. Collectively, we #makeshifthappen.

from Woodstock to Worldstock
1969 was an eventful year.

First steps on the moon

ARPA goes online for the first time, forming the foundation of the internet.

Woodstock Music & Arts Festival

First steps on the moon
Amidst political upheaval, scientific breakthroughs, anti-war demonstrations and riots around the world, the creative community responded. New Orleans had it's first annual Jazz Festival, Sesame Street premiered on PBS, Maya Angelou released I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, John Lennon and Yoko Ono used their honeymoon to protest in bed, and a half a million people gravitated to Bethel, New York, for “An Aquarian Experience: 3 Days of Peace and Music." Woodstock brought performers from across the US together to unite people during times of "great social turmoil."

Polar Vortex hits the Midwest (US)

Hundreds of divers set the world record for the largest underwater cleanup

Now, in 2019, we find ourselves once again living in divisive, turbulent times. As we navigate environmental crisis, political unrest, outbursts and outbreaks, we need those who have a voice to step up and speak up.
On the weekend of August 16, 17 & 18, 2019
If there is a cause you care about, talk about it.
If there are people you want represented, represent.

If there are songs to sing, poems to compose, jokes to land or ideas to explore, do it now.

In these urgent and uncertain times, we need more than a few bright stars to light the way.
We need a sky full of starlings, darlings.
